Cruel Aesthetics

Ripple Effect Tea Table, part of Jeonghwa Seo’s project “The Geography of Objects.”
I personally like this table not only because I’m attracted to Zen and Asian designs but hugely because of how this item was perceived and conceptualized. Each time you place a tea cup on the table, the ripples form on the water covered surface of the table just as like when you throw a stone on the calm body of water and it was shaken by your action. The table is inspired by the belief that small changes in an individual’s life can have an impact or effect to a whole community. Isn’t that very true to us these days?
